Instructions
- 1.Prep the Skewers & Potatoes: Prevent burning and achieve uniform slices.
- Soak wooden skewers in cold water for at least 15 minutes to prevent them from burning in the air fryer. Wash and peel the potatoes. Slice them thinly into squares or rounds of decreasing sizes (from large base slices down to small top slices) using a sharp knife or mandoline slicer.
- 2.Soak & Dry the Potato Slices: Removes excess starch for extra crispiness.
- Submerge the sliced potatoes in a bowl of cold water for 10 minutes. Drain completely and pat thoroughly dry with paper towels.
- 3.Season the Potato Slices:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter (or olive oil), garlic powder, onion powder, dried herbs, sea salt, black pepper, and half of the grated Parmesan cheese. Add the dry potato slices and toss gently until every slice is evenly coated.
- 4.Build the Potato Trees: Stack largest to smallest on skewers.
- Take a soaked skewer and thread the largest potato slice down to near the bottom (leave 1 inch exposed for stability). Continue threading potato slices in decreasing order of size, fanning out the corners or edges slightly at alternating angles to create a tree silhouette. Finish with the smallest slice near the tip.
- 5.Air Fry to Golden Perfection:
- Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (193°C) . Place the potato trees horizontally in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they do not overlap. Air fry for 20 to 25 minutes , turning them halfway through, until the edges are deep golden-brown and crispy.
- 6.Top & Serve:
- Carefully remove the hot potato trees with tongs. Sprinkle immediately with the remaining Parmesan cheese and chopped fresh herbs. Affix a small star cut from yellow bell pepper or cheese onto the top of each skewer tip. Serve immediately while hot.
