Why This Recipe Works
- Super Fast: Cooks in the time it takes to boil pasta.
- Pantry Staples: Uses simple ingredients you likely already have.
- Versatile: Add grilled chicken, shrimp, or broccoli to make it a full meal.
Ingredients Needed
- Pasta (8 oz): Spaghetti, fettuccine, or linguine.
- Unsalted Butter (4 tbsp): For the rich sauce base.
- Garlic (4 cloves): Minced.
- Grated Parmesan Cheese (1/2 cup): Freshly grated melts best.
- Pasta Water (1/2 cup): Saved before draining the pasta.
- Fresh Parsley & Black Pepper: For garnish.
How to Cook It
- Boil the Pasta: Cook the pasta in a pot of salted boiling water according to package instructions until al dente. Crucial Step: Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta cooking water before draining.
- Sauté Garlic: While pasta cooks, melt the butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant and soft (do not let it brown or burn).
- Toss Pasta: Add the drained pasta directly to the skillet with the garlic butter.
- Create the Sauce: Pour in the reserved pasta water and sprinkle the Parmesan cheese over the noodles. Toss vigorously for 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts and emulsifies with the water and butter to create a creamy sauce.
- Garnish & Serve: Season with cracked black pepper and chopped fresh parsley. Serve immediately.
