- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 2 minutes.
- Use a sharp knife to cut 4 to 5 light diagonal slits across the top of each hot dog.
- Place the scored hot dogs into the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they are not overlapping.
- Cook at 400°F (200°C) for 4 minutes until the skin turns deep reddish-brown and blisters.
- Open the basket and carefully insert each hot dog inside a bun.
- Lightly brush the outsides of the buns with melted butter if desired.
- Return the assembled hot dogs to the air fryer for 1 to 2 minutes until the buns are warm and lightly toasted.
