Instructions

Step 1: Wash the Potatoes

  1. Thoroughly wash and scrub the potatoes under cold running water to remove any dirt. Dry them completely with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. Dry potatoes help create crispier skins.

Step 2: Prepare the Potatoes

  1. Using a fork, poke each potato several times on all sides. This allows steam to escape during cooking and prevents the potatoes from bursting.
  2. Rub each potato with olive oil until evenly coated. Sprinkle with sea salt, black pepper, and garlic powder if using.

Step 3: Preheat the Air Fryer

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 3–5 minutes.

Step 4: Air Fry the Potatoes

  1. Place the potatoes in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Leave space between each potato so hot air can circulate evenly.
  2. Cook at 400°F (200°C) for 40–50 minutes , turning the potatoes halfway through cooking.
  3. Cooking time depends on the size of your potatoes. Smaller potatoes may finish in 35–40 minutes, while larger ones may require up to 55 minutes.

Step 5: Check for Doneness

  1. Insert a fork or knife into the center of a potato. It should slide in easily with little resistance.
  2. If needed, cook for an additional 5 minutes and test again.

Step 6: Serve

  1. Slice each potato open and gently fluff the inside with a fork.
  2. Top with butter, sour cream, shredded cheese, bacon bits, chopped chives, or your favorite toppings. Serve immediately while hot.
