Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) . Lightly grease a $9 \times 13$ -inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray or a little butter.
  2. Dump the Peaches Pour both cans of sliced peaches—including all the syrup—directly into the bottom of your prepared baking dish. Spread them out evenly using a spatula.
  3. Layer the Cake Mix Open the box of dry cake mix and sprinkle it evenly over the layer of peaches. Do not mix or stir. Use the back of a spoon to gently smooth out the dry mix so it covers the fruit evenly.
  4. Add the Butter Slice the cold stick of butter into about 16–20 thin squares. Arrange the butter slices evenly across the top of the dry cake mix layer, covering as much surface area as possible. This ensures no dry flour spots remain after baking.
  5. Bake to Golden Perfection Place the dish in the middle rack of your preheated oven. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes , or until the top is deeply golden brown and the peach filling is bubbling vigorously around the edges.
  6. Cool and Serve Remove from the oven and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes before serving. The sauce will thicken slightly as it cools. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
