Instructions

Step 1: Form the Bread Baskets

  1. Lay your slices of bread flat on a clean cutting board.
  2. Take the bottom of a drinking glass or a round cookie cutter, and gently press it down into the center of each slice of bread.
  3. Crucial Tip: Do not press all the way through to cut the circle completely out. You only want to compress the center crumbs downward to create a deep indentation or “well” that will securely hold the raw egg without leaking.
  4. Lightly brush or spread the softened butter across the top side of each slice of bread, paying special attention to the raised outer crust edges.

Step 2: Load the Air Fryer Basket

  1. Lightly mist your air fryer basket with a small amount of non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Carefully transfer the prepared bread slices into the basket in a single flat layer.
  3. Crack one large egg directly into the center well of each bread slice. If a tiny bit of the transparent egg white spills over the edge, it is completely fine, but try to keep the yolk centered inside the indentation.
  4. Season the top of each raw egg evenly with salt and freshly cracked black pepper.

Step 3: Air Fry to Perfection

  1. Insert the basket into your air fryer.
  2. Set the temperature to 350°F (175°C) .
  3. Cook according to your preferred yolk intensity (see time breakdown below).
