Instructions
- Wash the green beans under cool water and trim off the tough stem ends. Thoroughly dry the beans using a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. Any residual moisture will cause the beans to steam rather than crisp and blister.
- Transfer the dried green beans to a large mixing bowl. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil. Add the garlic powder, onion powder, sea salt, and black pepper. Toss vigorously until every green bean is evenly coated.
- Preheat your air fryer to 390°F (200°C) for 3 minutes. High heat is necessary to blister the skin quickly while keeping the interior tender-crisp.
- Place the seasoned green beans into the preheated air fryer basket. Spread them out as evenly as possible. Do not over-crowd the basket; cook in two batches if using a small basket air fryer.
- Pull out the air fryer basket at 4–5 minutes and shake it thoroughly to redistribute the green beans. This ensures even roasting and blistering on all sides.
- If adding Parmesan, sprinkle the grated cheese over the green beans during the last minute of cooking. Air fry for 1 final minute until the cheese melts and becomes golden.
