Instructions
Step 1: Preheat the Air Fryer
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (204°C) for approximately 5 minutes if your model requires or benefits from preheating.
- Starting with a heated cooking chamber can make the cooking process more consistent.
Step 2: Prepare the Ramekins
- Lightly spray the inside of two 4-ounce ramekins with olive oil or avocado oil spray.
- The coating does not need to be heavy. A thin layer is sufficient to help prevent the eggs from sticking.
Step 3: Add the Water
- Pour ¼ cup of room-temperature water into each ramekin.
- The water provides the moist environment needed for this poaching method.
Step 4: Add the Eggs
- Carefully crack one egg into each ramekin.
- Try to avoid breaking the yolk. If possible, crack the eggs gently and keep the yolks intact.
Step 5: Begin Air Frying
- Place the ramekins carefully into the air fryer basket.
- Reduce the temperature to 360°F (182°C) and cook for approximately 5 minutes .
Step 6: Check the Egg Whites
- Carefully open the air fryer and check the eggs.
- The whites should be beginning to set. If necessary, gently loosen the edges of the eggs from the ramekins using a small spoon or silicone spatula.
- If portions of the whites remain translucent, continue cooking.
Step 7: Adjust the Cooking Time
- Continue cooking for another 1–2 minutes , checking frequently.
- For a softer yolk, remove the eggs as soon as the whites are set and the yolks remain visibly soft.
- For a slightly firmer, jammy yolk, allow the eggs to cook a little longer.
- Remember that cooking continues slightly after the ramekins are removed because of residual heat.
Step 8: Remove the Ramekins
- Put on oven mitts and carefully remove the hot ramekins from the air fryer.
- The ramekins and water will be very hot, so handle them carefully.
Step 9: Drain the Eggs
- Gently slide each egg from its ramekin into a fine-mesh strainer.
- Allow excess water to drain for several seconds.
- Avoid pressing or handling the eggs unnecessarily because the yolks may still be delicate.
Step 10: Season and Serve
- Transfer the eggs to toast, a plate, or your chosen meal.
- Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
- Add fresh herbs, chili flakes, Parmesan, paprika, or another preferred topping.
- Serve immediately for the best texture.

Notes
Poached eggs are best eaten immediately, but leftovers can be stored if necessary. Allow the eggs to cool slightly, then place them in a container filled with cold water. Cover and refrigerate. For best quality, use refrigerated cooked eggs within 3 days . Keep the eggs submerged in water during storage to help prevent them from drying out.
