Instructions
Step 1: Prep the Ingredients
- If using raw beetroot, scrub, peel, and roughly dice into small pieces so your blender handles it easily. Peel the orange and fresh ginger root.
Step 2: Layer the Liquid and Soft Base
- Pour the coconut water into the bottom of your blender pitcher first. Adding liquid first prevents the solid ingredients from catching under the blades and ensures an even vortex. Add the fresh orange, diced raw beet, peeled ginger root, and chia seeds directly into the liquid.
Step 3: Add Frozen Fruit and Ice
- Layer the frozen mixed berries and optional ice cubes on top of the liquid ingredients. The weight of the frozen fruit helps push the fibrous raw vegetables down into the spinning blades.
Step 4: Blend at Gradual Intensities
- Low Speed (10 seconds): Pulse on low speed to crush the ice and break down the raw beet chunks into smaller fragments.
- High Speed (45 to 60 seconds): Turn the blender speed up to maximum. Blend continuously until the mixture is completely velvety and smooth, showing no visible flecks of beet or seeds.
Step 5: Check Consistency & Serve
- Stop the blender and check the consistency. If the smoothie is too thick, pour in an extra 2 to 3 tablespoons of coconut water and pulse briefly. Pour immediately into chilled glass tumblers and enjoy while fresh!
