  • Filtered Water: 4 cups (32 fl oz) pure filtered water

Instructions

  1. In a medium stainless steel saucepan, bring 4 cups of filtered water to a gentle boil. Add the thinly sliced ginger root, sliced turmeric root, and the tiny pinch of freshly cracked black pepper. Reduce heat to low and let it simmer uncovered at low intensity for 5 minutes . This gentle extraction decocts the dense root fibres to release their essential oils and nutrients.
  2. Turn off the heat completely and remove the saucepan from the hot burner. Allow the water to cool slightly for 60 seconds (water around 175°F–180°F avoids scorching green tea leaves). Submerge the 2 green tea bags into the liquid. Cover the pot with a lid and let it steep at medium-low intensity for 3 to 5 minutes . Avoid over-steeping to prevent bitterness. Remove and discard the tea bags.
  3. Pour the warm liquid into a large heat-resistant glass pitcher. Add the fresh lemon slices, cucumber slices, and bruised mint leaves directly into the warm mixture. Stir gently with a wooden spoon. Allow the mixture to sit at room temperature intensity for 10 to 15 minutes so the cold ingredients infuse their fresh enzymes and aroma into the warm brew.
  4. You can serve the beverage warm in a ceramic mug or chill it in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 hours over ice for a crisp, cold drink. If storing for later, leave the cucumber and lemon slices in the pitcher for up to 24 hours to deepen the flavor profile.
