Instructions
Step 1: Chill the Ingredients
- For the thickest and most refreshing shake, use cold almond milk and refrigerated heavy cream. If your serving glass is chilled as well, the finished drink will remain colder for longer.
Step 2: Add the Liquid Ingredients
- Pour the unsweetened almond milk into the blender. Add the heavy cream and vanilla extract.
- Starting with the liquid ingredients can help the blender move the mixture more easily once the remaining ingredients are added.
Step 3: Add the Cocoa and Sweetener
- Add the unsweetened cocoa powder and your preferred low-carb sweetener.
- Start with the smaller amount of sweetener if you are uncertain about the desired sweetness. More can be added after blending.
Step 4: Add Salt and Ice
- Add a tiny pinch of salt followed by the ice cubes.
- If you are using protein powder, peanut butter, coffee, cinnamon, or another optional ingredient, add it now.
Step 5: Blend
- Secure the blender lid and blend on high for approximately 45–60 seconds.
- Continue until the ice has been completely crushed and the drink appears thick, smooth, and evenly chocolate-colored.
Step 6: Taste and Adjust
- Taste the shake carefully.
- If it needs more sweetness, add a small amount of sweetener and blend again briefly.
- If it is too thick, add a splash of almond milk.
- If it is too thin, add a few more ice cubes and blend again.
- For a stronger chocolate flavor, add a small amount of additional cocoa powder.
Step 7: Serve Immediately
- Pour the finished shake into a chilled glass.
- Add optional sugar-free whipped cream, cocoa powder, cinnamon, coconut flakes, or another preferred garnish.
- Serve immediately for the best texture.

Notes
The shake is best consumed immediately after preparation. If necessary, store leftovers in a tightly sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Shake or stir thoroughly before serving because separation can occur. For longer storage, freeze the prepared shake in ice cube trays. Blend the frozen portions with a small amount of fresh unsweetened milk when ready to serve.
