Instructions
Step 1: Wash the Ingredients
- Time: 2 minutes Intensity: Low
- Wash the lemon, cucumber, mint leaves, and ginger thoroughly under clean running water. This step helps remove dirt and other surface residues. Use a clean cutting board and knife to prepare the ingredients.
- Peel the ginger with a small knife or spoon, then cut it into thin slices. Thin slices help release its flavor into the water.
Step 2: Slice the Lemon and Cucumber
- Time: 3 minutes Intensity: Low
- Cut the lemon into thin rounds, removing any visible seeds. Slice the cucumber into thin pieces so its fresh flavor can gradually infuse the water.
- You can leave the lemon peel on for additional citrus aroma, provided the fruit has been washed thoroughly. If you prefer a less bitter taste, remove the lemon slices after a few hours.
Step 3: Prepare the Mint
- Time: 1 minute Intensity: Low
- Place the mint leaves in the palm of your hand and gently clap your hands together once or twice. This releases some of the leaves’ natural aroma without crushing them completely.
- Avoid tearing the leaves into very small pieces, as this can make the drink harder to strain and may produce a stronger herbal taste.
Step 4: Combine the Ingredients
- Time: 2 minutes Intensity: Low
- Place the lemon slices, cucumber slices, ginger, and mint leaves into a clean glass pitcher.
- Pour in 4 cups of clean drinking water. Stir gently with a clean spoon to distribute the ingredients evenly.
- Cover the pitcher with a lid or clean wrap to protect the water while it infuses.
Step 5: Refrigerate and Infuse
- Time: 2–4 hours Intensity: No active preparation required
- Place the covered pitcher in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours. For a stronger flavor, allow the ingredients to infuse for up to 4 hours.
- Refrigeration allows the flavors to develop while keeping the drink chilled. Do not leave the prepared water at room temperature for extended periods.
- For the best flavor, remove the lemon slices if the water begins to taste bitter. The cucumber, mint, and ginger can also be strained out before serving.
Step 6: Serve the Water
- Time: 2 minutes Intensity: Low
- Stir the infused water gently before serving. Pour it into four glasses and add ice cubes if desired.
- Garnish each glass with a fresh mint leaf or a thin lemon slice. Serve immediately while the drink is cold and refreshing.
- Total active preparation time: Approximately 10 minutes.
