Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Pita

  1. Remove the pita breads from their packaging and separate them if they are stuck together. If the pita has been refrigerated, allow it to sit at room temperature for a few minutes.
  2. For softer pita, lightly sprinkle both sides with a few drops of water. For crispier pita, skip the water and brush the surface lightly with olive oil.

Step 2: Make the Seasoning

  1. In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir well.
  2. Using a pastry brush, lightly coat one or both sides of each pita with the seasoned oil. You do not need much oil. A thin coating is enough to help the pita brown without making it greasy.
  3. If you prefer plain pita bread, simply brush it with a very small amount of olive oil or leave it completely unseasoned.

Step 3: Preheat the Air Fryer

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for approximately 2–3 minutes .
  2. Preheating helps the pita cook more evenly and allows the outside to become golden and lightly crisp.
  3. If your air fryer does not require preheating, you can place the pita directly into the basket.

Step 4: Place the Pita in the Basket

  1. Place the pita bread in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Avoid stacking multiple pita breads because the hot air needs space to circulate.
  2. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to cook the pita in batches.

Step 5: Air Fry

  1. Cook the pita at 375°F (190°C) for 2–3 minutes .
  2. Carefully flip the pita using tongs, then continue cooking for another 2–3 minutes .
  3. The exact cooking time depends on the thickness of the pita and how crispy you want it.
  4. For soft and warm pita , cook for about 3–4 minutes total.
  5. For lightly crispy pita , cook for about 4–5 minutes total.
  6. For very crispy pita , cook for approximately 5–6 minutes, checking frequently toward the end.
  7. The pita is ready when it is heated through and the edges are lightly golden.

Step 6: Serve Immediately

  1. Remove the pita from the air fryer and place it on a serving plate. If desired, sprinkle it with fresh parsley while it is still warm.
  2. Serve immediately for the best texture.
