Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Oven
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
Step 2: Cook the Sausage
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the breakfast sausage and cook for about 6–8 minutes, breaking it into crumbles as it cooks. Continue until the sausage is browned and fully cooked.
- Drain any excess grease and set aside.
Step 3: Prepare the Eggs
- In a medium bowl, whisk together:
- Eggs
- Milk
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Garlic powder
- Pour the egg mixture into the same skillet over medium-low heat.
- Cook gently, stirring frequently, until the eggs are scrambled and just set.
- Remove from heat immediately to prevent overcooking.
Step 4: Make the Filling
- In a large mixing bowl, combine:
- Cooked sausage
- Scrambled eggs
- Shredded cheddar cheese
- Chopped green onions
- Mix thoroughly until evenly distributed.
- Allow the mixture to cool for 3–5 minutes before assembling.
Step 5: Arrange the Crescent Dough
- Open both cans of crescent roll dough.
- Separate the dough into individual triangles.
- On the prepared baking sheet, arrange the triangles in a circular pattern with the wide ends overlapping in the center and the pointed ends facing outward.
- The finished arrangement should resemble a sunburst.
- Press the overlapping portions lightly together to create a stable base.
Step 6: Add the Filling
- Spoon the sausage and egg mixture evenly around the ring on the widest part of the dough.
- Keep the filling in a circular shape and avoid overfilling.
Step 7: Form the Ring
- Bring each dough point over the filling and tuck it underneath the inner edge of the ring.
- Continue around the circle until the filling is enclosed.
- Some filling may remain visible, which adds to the finished presentation.
Step 8: Add Finishing Touches
- Brush the entire ring with melted butter.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds over the top if desired.
- This helps create a beautiful golden finish during baking.
Step 9: Bake
- Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes or until:
- Dough is golden brown
- Crescent rolls are fully cooked
- Cheese is melted and bubbly
- Rotate the pan halfway through baking if necessary for even browning.
Step 10: Cool and Serve
- Remove from the oven and let the ring rest for 5 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh parsley.
- Slice into wedges and serve warm.
