A completely natural, chemical-free skincare gel combining omega-3 rich flaxseed mucilage with soothing aloe vera to deliver intense moisture, calm inflammation, and restore the skin barrier without clogging pores.
Equipment
- Small stainless steel saucepan
- Wooden spoon or silicone spatula
- Fine mesh strainer OR a clean nylon stocking / cheesecloth
- Clean glass bowl
- Sterilized glass pump bottle or airtight glass jar
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (~75g) whole flaxseeds
- 2 cups (500 ml) filtered water
- 1/4 cup (~60 ml) fresh aloe vera gel
- 1/2 teaspoon (~2.5 ml) Vitamin E oil (Optional)
- 3–5 drops Essential Oil (Tea Tree or Lavender) (Optional)
Instructions
- In a small stainless steel saucepan, combine 1/2 cup of whole flaxseeds and 2 cups of filtered water.
- Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and stir gently to prevent seeds from sticking to the bottom.
- Once the water reaches a boil, reduce the heat to medium-low and allow it to simmer gently for 8 to 10 minutes.
- Stir continuously with a wooden spoon until the liquid transforms into a thick, egg-white consistency and drips slowly off the spoon in sticky threads, then turn off the heat immediately.
- Place a clean nylon stocking or cheesecloth over a bowl and pour the hot flaxseed gel mixture carefully into the cloth.
- Let the mixture cool for 3–5 minutes, then gently squeeze the cloth downward to press out the pure gel into the bowl, leaving the seeds behind.
- Scoop fresh gel from an aloe vera leaf (or use 99% pure commercial aloe gel) and blend or whisk until smooth and liquidy.
- Add 1/4 cup of aloe vera gel into the freshly strained, room-temperature flaxseed gel.
- Stir in 1/2 teaspoon of Vitamin E oil and 3–5 drops of essential oil if using.
- Whisk the mixture vigorously for 1 to 2 minutes until fully homogenous, glossy, and smooth.
- Pour the finished gel into a pre-sterilized glass pump bottle or airtight container and store immediately in the refrigerator.
Notes
Refrigeration is required as the recipe contains no strong chemical preservatives. Shelf life is 7 to 14 days; discard immediately if there are changes in color, texture, or scent. Always perform a patch test on the inner wrist or jawline 24 hours prior to full facial application.
