Instructions

  1. In a small stainless steel saucepan, combine 1/2 cup of whole flaxseeds and 2 cups of filtered water.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and stir gently to prevent seeds from sticking to the bottom.
  3. Once the water reaches a boil, reduce the heat to medium-low and allow it to simmer gently for 8 to 10 minutes.
  4. Stir continuously with a wooden spoon until the liquid transforms into a thick, egg-white consistency and drips slowly off the spoon in sticky threads, then turn off the heat immediately.
  5. Place a clean nylon stocking or cheesecloth over a bowl and pour the hot flaxseed gel mixture carefully into the cloth.
  6. Let the mixture cool for 3–5 minutes, then gently squeeze the cloth downward to press out the pure gel into the bowl, leaving the seeds behind.
  7. Scoop fresh gel from an aloe vera leaf (or use 99% pure commercial aloe gel) and blend or whisk until smooth and liquidy.
  8. Add 1/4 cup of aloe vera gel into the freshly strained, room-temperature flaxseed gel.
  9. Stir in 1/2 teaspoon of Vitamin E oil and 3–5 drops of essential oil if using.
  10. Whisk the mixture vigorously for 1 to 2 minutes until fully homogenous, glossy, and smooth.
  11. Pour the finished gel into a pre-sterilized glass pump bottle or airtight container and store immediately in the refrigerator.
