Instructions

Step 1: Mash the Bananas (Intensity: Minimal Effort)

  1. Peel the overripe bananas and place them into your medium mixing bowl.
  2. Using a fork or potato masher, mash the bananas thoroughly until they reach a smooth, wet consistency with minimal lumps.
  1. Add the vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, sea salt, and optional peanut butter or sweetener to the mashed bananas. Whisk or stir until combined.
  2. Fold in the rolled oats until every oat is evenly coated with the banana mixture.
  3. Gently fold in your chosen mix-ins (such as dark chocolate chips or chopped walnuts).
  4. Baking Tip: Let the mixture sit for 3 to 5 minutes so the oats can absorb some of the banana moisture, making shaping easier.

Step 3: Preheat and Prep the Air Fryer (Intensity: Medium Heat at 350°F)

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3 minutes.
  2. Line the bottom of your air fryer basket with a piece of parchment paper. (Important Note: Make sure the paper is held down by the cookie dough so it doesn’t blow into the heating element).

Step 4: Shape and Air Fry the Cookies

  1. Scoop about 1.5 to 2 tablespoons of dough per cookie and place them onto the parchment paper, leaving about 1 inch of space between them.
  2. Flatten each scoop slightly with the back of a spoon or your fingers into a round cookie shape. Chef’s Note: Air fryer cookies do not spread during baking like traditional butter-based doughs, so shape them exactly as you want them to look when finished!
  3. Slide the basket into the air fryer and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 8 to 10 minutes .
  4. The cookies are done when the edges are lightly golden brown and the tops feel set to a gentle touch.

Step 5: Cool and Serve

  1. Carefully remove the basket from the air fryer. Allow the cookies to sit inside the warm basket for 2 to 3 minutes to firm up.
  2. Transfer them to a wire cooling rack to cool completely. Repeat the air-frying process with any remaining dough.
