Instructions

Step 1: Prep and Season the Beef

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Using clean hands, gently mix until the seasonings are loosely incorporated. Do not overmix. Divide the meat mixture into 4 equal portions (roughly 5 ounces each). Gently shape each portion into a patty about 3/4-inch thick, ensuring the disk is slightly wider than your burger buns to account for shrinkage. Press your thumb into the center of each patty to create a slight indentation. Season both sides evenly with kosher salt and black pepper.

Step 2: Preheat the Air Fryer

  1. Turn on your air fryer and set the temperature to 375°F (190°C) with an operational time of 10–12 minutes. Preheating for 3 to 5 minutes guarantees an immediate sear when the meat contacts the basket floor.

Step 3: Air Fry the Patties

  1. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with high-heat cooking oil (avocado or canola oil spray). Arrange the seasoned patties in a single layer inside the basket, ensuring at least half an inch of space between each patty for proper airflow. If your basket size is smaller than 5 quarts, cook in two separate batches to avoid overcrowding.

Step 4: Flip and Cook to Doneness

  1. Cook at 375°F for 6 minutes , then open the basket and use a spatula to flip each burger over. Cook for an additional 4 to 6 minutes , depending on your preferred internal temperature:
  2. Medium-Rare: 8–9 minutes total (internal temp 135°F / 57°C)
  3. Medium: 10 minutes total (internal temp 145°F / 63°C)
  4. Well-Done: 12 minutes total (internal temp 160°F / 71°C)

Step 5: Melt Cheese & Toast Buns

  1. If making cheeseburgers, place a slice of cheese on top of each patty during the final 60 seconds of cooking. Turn off the air fryer and let the residual heat melt the cheese perfectly without flying off into the fan elements. Transfer patties to a warm plate and let rest for 3 to 5 minutes so juices redistribute.
  2. Brush the cut sides of your burger buns with melted butter and place them face down in the warm air fryer basket for 1 to 2 minutes at 375°F until golden brown and crispy.

Step 6: Assemble

  1. Spread signature sauce on the bottom bun. Layer with pickles, juicy air-fried beef patty, tomato slice, lettuce, and the top bun. Serve immediately while hot and juicy!
