Instructions
Step 1: Preheat the Air Fryer (Low Intensity)
- Preheat your air fryer to 200°C (400°F) for 5 minutes. Preheating ensures even cooking and helps create a crispy exterior.
Step 2: Prepare the Steaks (Low Intensity)
- Pat the steaks dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Rub both sides with olive oil, then season generously with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika if using. Press the seasoning into the meat gently.
- Tip: Room temperature steaks cook more evenly. Let them sit out for 10–15 minutes before cooking if you have the time.
Step 3: Air Fry the Steaks (Medium Intensity)
- Place the steaks in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them for air circulation. Cook at 200°C (400°F) for the following approximate times, flipping halfway through:
- Rare: 6–7 minutes (3–4 minutes per side)
- Medium-Rare: 8–9 minutes (4–4.5 minutes per side)
- Medium: 10–11 minutes (5–5.5 minutes per side)
- Medium-Well: 12–13 minutes (6–6.5 minutes per side)
- Well-Done: 14–15 minutes (7–7.5 minutes per side)
- Tip: Use a meat thermometer for accuracy: 125°F for rare, 135°F for medium-rare, 145°F for medium, 155°F for medium-well, and 160°F for well-done.
Step 4: Rest the Steaks (Low Intensity)
- Remove the steaks from the air fryer and place them on a plate. Cover loosely with foil and let rest for 5–10 minutes. Resting allows the juices to redistribute, ensuring a tender and juicy steak.
- Optional: Top with a pat of butter or fresh herbs for extra flavor before serving.
Step 5: Serve (Low Intensity)
- Slice against the grain for maximum tenderness. Serve with your favorite sides such as roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, a fresh salad, or air-fried fries.
