Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. Stir until evenly mixed.
  2. Add the warm water and olive oil. Mix everything together until a shaggy dough forms. Continue kneading by hand for about 8–10 minutes or until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.
  3. Intensity: Moderate
  4. The dough should feel soft and slightly tacky but not sticky. If it feels too sticky, add a little flour, one tablespoon at a time.

Step 2: First Rise

  1. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl. Cover with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap.
  2. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  3. Intensity: Low
  4. The rising process is essential because it develops flavor and creates the bread’s light texture.

Step 3: Shape the Dough

  1. Once risen, gently punch down the dough to release excess air.
  2. Shape it into a round loaf and place it into a greased air fryer-safe baking pan that fits comfortably inside your air fryer basket.
  3. Cover loosely and allow it to rise again for 15 minutes.
  4. Intensity: Low
  5. This second rise helps create a softer and fluffier loaf.

Step 4: Prepare the Air Fryer

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 320°F (160°C) for 3 minutes.
  2. Preheating ensures even cooking and helps create a beautiful crust from the beginning.

Step 5: Air Fry the Bread

  1. Place the baking pan carefully into the air fryer basket.
  2. Cook at 320°F (160°C) for 18–20 minutes.
  3. Check the bread after 15 minutes. If the top is browning too quickly, loosely cover it with aluminum foil and continue cooking.
  4. Intensity: Moderate
  5. The bread is done when:
  6. The top is golden brown.
  7. The loaf sounds hollow when tapped.
  8. The internal temperature reaches approximately 190°F (88°C).

Step 6: Cool the Bread

  1. Remove the bread from the air fryer and carefully transfer it to a wire rack.
  2. Allow it to cool for at least 20 minutes before slicing.
  3. Intensity: Low
  4. Cooling helps the bread finish cooking internally and prevents a gummy texture.
