Prep time10 minutes (5 minutes if using pre-cooked/frozen beets)
Total time12 minutes
Servings2 large servings (approx. 16 oz each)
Equipment
- High-Speed Blender: A high-wattage motor (1000W+) works best for raw beets. If using a standard blender, use pre-cooked/steamed beets or grate raw beets prior to blending.
- Vegetable Peeler & Chef’s Knife
- Measuring Cups & Spoons
Ingredients
- Beetroot (The Nitric Oxide Booster): Beets are naturally high in dietary nitrates. Your body converts these nitrates into nitric oxide, a compound that relaxes and dilates blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more freely and efficiently.
- Mixed Berries (Antioxidant Powerhouses): Strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries contain abundant anthocyanins. These compounds protect endothelial cells (the inner lining of blood vessels) from oxidative stress.
- Fresh Ginger Root (Thermal Circulatory Stimulant): Ginger contains gingerol, an active compound that stimulates blood movement, warms the peripheral circulatory system, and aids digestive comfort.
- Citrus Juice (Vitamin C & Bioavailability): Vitamin C helps protect nitric oxide from premature oxidation, extending its beneficial physiological effects.
- Coconut Water (Electrolyte Balance): Rich in potassium and magnesium, coconut water maintains fluid balances and supports smooth cardiovascular function.
Base Produce & Frozen Fruit
- 1 small-to-medium Raw Beetroot: Peeled and diced finely (or 1/2 cup pre-steamed beet cubes for easier blending).
- 1 cup Frozen Mixed Berries: A combination of blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries.
- 1/2 cup Frozen Strawberries: Adds natural sweetness and vibrant color.
- 1/2 medium Banana: Fresh or frozen (adds creamy texture without overpowering the berry flavor).
Boosters & Liquids
- 1 inch Fresh Ginger Root: Peeled and sliced.
- 1 tbsp Chia Seeds or Ground Flaxseeds: For plant-based Omega-3 fatty acids and soluble fiber.
- 1/2 fresh Lemon or Lime: Juiced (approx. 1 to 2 tablespoons).
- 1.25 to 1.5 cups Pure Coconut Water: Unsweetened (substitute with unsweetened almond milk or plain water if preferred).
- Optional Sweetener: 1 teaspoon raw honey, pure maple syrup, or 2 pitted Medjool dates if your berries are extra tart.

Instructions
- To achieve a velvety, restaurant-quality smoothie consistency without leftover chunks of dense beetroot, follow these specific processing stages:
- Wash all fresh produce thoroughly under cool water. Peel the beetroot carefully using a vegetable peeler. Chop the beetroot into tiny, uniform dice (roughly 1/2 inch) so your blender blades can catch them easily. Peel the fresh ginger root using the edge of a spoon.
- Pour the coconut water and lemon juice into the base of your high-speed blender container first. Layering liquids at the bottom prevents frozen ingredients from creating an air pocket over the blades.
- Add the diced raw beetroot, sliced ginger root, chia seeds, and optional sweetener to the liquids. Secure the lid and run the blender on Low Intensity for 15 seconds to break down the dense root pieces into a fine slurry.
- Stop the blender and add the frozen mixed berries, frozen strawberries, and banana. Turn the speed up to Medium Intensity for 10 seconds, then gradually increase to High Intensity for 45 to 60 seconds.
- Check the smoothie’s consistency. If you desire a thinner drink, splash in an extra 2-3 tablespoons of coconut water. Finish with a Maximum Pulse burst for 15 seconds to whip air into the blend for maximum creaminess.
