Instructions

  1. Wash the fresh ginger root thoroughly under cold running water to remove any dirt. If the skin is clean, you can leave it on.
  2. Slice the ginger into thin rounds or grate it if you prefer a stronger infusion.
  3. Pour the RO water into a medium saucepan and add the prepared ginger.
  4. Bring the water to a gentle boil over medium heat.
  5. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 10–15 minutes, allowing the ginger to infuse the water.
  6. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the ginger water cool for a few minutes.
  7. Strain the liquid through a fine-mesh strainer into a pitcher or serving jug, discarding the ginger pieces.
  8. If desired, stir in fresh lemon juice, honey, a cinnamon stick, or fresh mint to enhance the flavor.
  9. Serve warm, or chill in the refrigerator and enjoy over ice for a refreshing cold drink.
  10. Store any leftovers in a sealed glass container in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours.
