Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) .
  2. Line a small baking tray with parchment paper. Homemade bread recipes
  3. If you are using a small loaf pan, lightly grease it with olive oil.

Step 2: Mix the Dry Ingredients

  1. Add the following to a bowl:
  2. Whole-wheat flour
  3. Baking powder
  4. Baking soda
  5. Salt
  6. Ground flaxseed
  7. Chia seeds
  8. Sunflower seeds
  9. Mix everything together.
  10. This distributes the leavening agents and seeds throughout the flour.

Step 3: Add the Wet Ingredients

  1. Add:
  2. Greek yogurt
  3. Egg
  4. Olive oil
  5. Mix with a spoon until the ingredients begin forming a dough.
  6. The dough should be soft and slightly sticky.
  7. If it seems too dry, add water one tablespoon at a time .
  8. Don’t add too much water because a very wet dough will be difficult to shape.
  9. Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Homemade bread recipes
  10. Shape it into a small round loaf approximately 1½–2 inches thick.
  11. You can also place it inside a small loaf pan.
  12. Sprinkle a few additional seeds on top if desired.
  13. Using a sharp knife, make a shallow cross or two small cuts across the top.
  14. This allows the bread to expand while baking.
  15. Place the bread into the preheated oven. Recipe creation tool
  16. Bake for approximately 10–14 minutes , depending on the thickness of the loaf and your oven.
  17. The outside should become lightly golden and firm.
  18. Insert a toothpick or thin knife into the center.
  19. If it comes out without wet dough, the bread is ready.
  20. For a thicker loaf, it may require a few additional minutes.
  21. Remove the bread from the oven.
  22. Allow it to cool for approximately 5 minutes before slicing.
  23. Don’t cut it immediately if you want cleaner slices because the interior continues to set as it cools.
  24. If you’re really short on time, make the bread into small flat rounds rather than one thick loaf.
  25. Divide the dough into 4–6 pieces.
  26. Flatten each piece to approximately ½ inch thick.
  27. Bake at 425°F (220°C) for approximately 8–10 minutes .
  28. Because they’re thinner, they cook considerably faster.
  29. This version is particularly good for sandwiches, breakfast toast, or serving alongside eggs. Breakfast meal plans
  30. You can also make this bread without an oven.
  31. Heat a nonstick skillet over medium-low heat.
  32. Lightly grease it with a small amount of olive oil.
  33. Place the shaped dough into the skillet.
  34. Cover with a lid.
  35. Cook for approximately 4–5 minutes per side , keeping the heat relatively low so the outside doesn’t burn before the inside cooks. Recipe creation tool
  36. The finished bread should be firm and lightly browned on both sides.
  37. The most important thing is not overmixing the dough .
  38. Once the flour has absorbed the wet ingredients, stop mixing.
  39. Overworking the dough can make the finished bread denser.
  40. Also, don’t make the loaf excessively thick. Since this recipe doesn’t use yeast, a relatively flat loaf cooks more evenly and quickly.

Notes

Allow the bread to cool completely before storing. Recipe creation tool Place it in an airtight container or reusable food bag. It can generally be kept at room temperature for a short period, or refrigerated for longer storage. For longer-term storage, slice the bread and freeze the slices individually. Then you can remove one slice whenever you need it and toast it directly from frozen.
