A simple homemade natural fertilizer using uncooked rice to help Peace Lilies flower and stay healthy, especially for recently purchased plants or those that haven't bloomed in a while.

Equipment

  • A blender
  • A strainer or fine mesh sieve
  • A container for watering

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (approx. 180 ml) of raw, uncooked rice (any variety)
  • 2 liters of chlorine-free water

Instructions

  1. Place the rice and water into a blender.
  2. Blend the mixture for 2 to 3 minutes until the water turns a milky white color.
  3. Use a fine strainer to filter the liquid into a clean container.
  4. Use the strained rice water to water your Peace Lily thoroughly, making sure the soil is evenly moist but not waterlogged.

Notes

Apply twice a week for newly bought or starting-to-flower Peace Lilies. Apply three times a week for older Peace Lilies that haven't bloomed in a while. Avoid direct sunlight, keep soil moist but not soggy, and occasionally supplement with organic fertilizer like bone meal or banana peel powder.
