Ingredients
For 1 large serving
- 1 cup (240 ml) hot water
- ½ fresh lemon
- 1–2 inches (2.5–5 cm) fresh ginger root
- 1 teaspoon raw honey, optional
- 1 small cinnamon stick, optional
- 2–3 fresh mint leaves, optional
- A thin lemon slice for garnish
- Tiny pinch of turmeric, optional
For a larger batch
- 4 cups water
- 1 large lemon
- 3–4 inches fresh ginger
- 1–2 tablespoons honey, according to taste
- 1 cinnamon stick
- A handful of fresh mint

Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Ginger

- You can either peel it using a teaspoon or simply scrub it well and leave the skin on if it is clean.

Step 2: Heat the Water
- Pour the water into a small saucepan and heat until it is hot but not aggressively boiling.
- Add the sliced ginger.
- For a stronger ginger flavor, allow the ginger to gently simmer for approximately 5–10 minutes .
- For a milder drink, simply pour hot water over the ginger and allow it to steep for about 5 minutes.
Step 3: Add Lemon
- Remove the drink from the heat and allow it to cool slightly.
- Squeeze in the juice from ½ fresh lemon .

Step 4: Add Honey
- If you prefer some sweetness, stir in 1 teaspoon of honey .

- For a lower-calorie version, simply leave out the honey.
Step 5: Add Optional Ingredients

- Cinnamon
- Fresh mint
- A tiny pinch of turmeric
- A few thin slices of fresh ginger

Notes
Allow it to cool. Pour it into a clean, covered container. Refrigerate. Use within about 2–3 days for best flavor. Reheat gently when you’re ready to drink it. If you prepare a larger batch: For the freshest flavor, however, making one serving at a time is ideal.
