Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Vegetables (3 minutes)
- Begin by thoroughly washing all your produce under cool running water. Peel the beetroots and carrots using a vegetable peeler. Cut off the top and bottom ends of the beets, then chop them into small cubes—this makes them easier to process. Core the apple and cut it into quarters. Peel the ginger.
- Intensity Tip: If you’re using organic beets, you can leave a bit of the skin on for extra fiber, but scrub them well.
Step 2: Choose Your Method (1 minute)
- Method A – Using a Juicer: Feed the beetroot, carrot, apple, and ginger pieces into the juicer one at a time, alternating between ingredients for even extraction. Collect the juice in a large bowl or pitcher.
- Method B – Using a Blender: Add the chopped beetroot, carrot, apple, ginger, and 1 cup of cold water to your blender. Blend on high speed for 60–90 seconds until completely smooth. Pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or muslin cloth into a bowl, pressing firmly with a spoon to extract all the juice.
Step 3: Add the Finishing Touches (2 minutes)
- Squeeze the juice of half a lemon into the beetroot mixture. Add a pinch of black salt if desired, and stir well. Taste the juice and adjust sweetness with honey or maple syrup if needed. If you prefer a colder drink, add ice cubes now.
Step 4: Serve and Garnish (1 minute)
- Pour the juice into two tall glasses. Garnish with fresh mint leaves and a thin lemon slice on the rim for a beautiful presentation. Serve immediately for maximum freshness and nutritional value.
