Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Ribs

  1. Start by removing the thin membrane from the back of the ribs. This step is essential for tender ribs because the membrane can become tough during cooking. Use a knife to loosen one edge, then pull it off using your hands or a paper towel for grip.

Step 2: Season Generously

  1. In a small bowl, mix salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, brown sugar, and mustard powder. Rub this spice mixture evenly over both sides of the ribs. Make sure to press the seasoning into the meat for maximum flavor.

Step 3: Wrap and Rest

  1. Wrap each rack tightly in aluminum foil. This traps moisture and helps the ribs cook slowly and evenly. Let the ribs sit at room temperature for about 15–20 minutes while you preheat your oven.

Step 4: Slow Bake

  1. Preheat your oven to 150°C (300°F) . Place the wrapped ribs on a baking tray and bake for 2.5 hours . This low-and-slow cooking process breaks down the connective tissues, resulting in incredibly tender meat.

Step 5: Prepare the BBQ Glaze

  1. While the ribs are baking, prepare your glaze. In a bowl, mix barbecue sauce, honey, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and smoked paprika. This combination creates a sweet, tangy, and slightly smoky flavor.

Step 6: Unwrap and Glaze

  1. After 2.5 hours, carefully remove the ribs from the oven and unwrap them. Be cautious—hot steam will escape. Brush a generous layer of BBQ sauce over the ribs.

Step 7: Broil for Perfection

  1. Increase the oven temperature to 220°C (425°F) or switch to broil mode. Place the ribs back in the oven uncovered for 10–15 minutes . This step caramelizes the sauce and creates a sticky, slightly crispy exterior.

Step 8: Rest and Serve

  1. Remove the ribs from the oven and let them rest for 5–10 minutes. Slice between the bones and serve hot with extra BBQ sauce on the side.
