Ingredients

  • 1 lb (approx. 450g) Fresh Broccoli: Cut into bite-sized, uniformly sized florets.
  • 1.5 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil: Or avocado oil for a high-smoke-point alternative.
  • ½ tsp Garlic Powder: Adds a savory, aromatic foundation without burning.
  • ½ tsp Fine Sea Salt: Adjust to taste.
  • ¼ tsp Freshly Cracked Black Pepper: For a subtle kick.

Instructions

  1. Wash the broccoli head thoroughly under cold running water. Pat it completely dry using clean kitchen towels or paper towels. Excess moisture will cause the broccoli to steam rather than crisp up. Cut the head into uniform bite-sized florets, leaving short stems.
  2. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3 to 5 minutes. Preheating ensures the basket is piping hot the second the broccoli hits the surface, initiating instant crisping.
  3. Place the dried broccoli florets in a large mixing bowl. Drizzle with olive oil, then sprinkle with garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and optional red pepper flakes. Toss thoroughly with tongs or hands until every floret is lightly and evenly coated in oil and spices.
  4. Transfer the seasoned broccoli into the preheated air fryer basket. Spread the florets into a single layer. Avoid overcrowding; cook in two batches if necessary. Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 8 to 10 minutes. Shake the basket halfway through (around the 4- or 5-minute mark) to promote even roasting.
  5. Remove the basket once the edges are browned and crisp and the stems are fork-tender. Transfer to a serving dish. Immediately squeeze fresh lemon juice over top and sprinkle with grated Parmesan if desired. Serve hot.
