  • 1 cooked breakfast sausage patty (pork, turkey, or chicken)
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 360°F (180°C) for 3 to 5 minutes.
  2. Lightly grease a small oven-safe ramekin with butter or cooking spray. Crack the egg into the ramekin, pierce the yolk if desired, and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Place the ramekin with the egg and the pre-cooked sausage patty into the air fryer basket. Cook at 360°F (180°C) for 5 to 6 minutes until the egg whites are set and the sausage is hot.
  4. While cooking, brush both inner cut sides of the split English muffin with softened butter.
  5. Remove the egg and sausage from the air fryer. Place the buttered English muffin halves face-up in the basket and air fry at 360°F (180°C) for 2 minutes until golden brown.
  6. On the bottom half of the toasted muffin, layer the sausage patty, the cooked egg, and the slice of cheese.
  7. Place the assembled open-faced sandwich and the top muffin half back into the air fryer. Cook at 360°F (180°C) for 1 to 2 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Remove from the air fryer, place the top half over the cheese, press gently, and serve immediately.

Notes

If using raw sausage patties, cook them first at 380°F (193°C) for 8-10 minutes. For extra crunch, spread a thin layer of mayonnaise or butter on the outside of the muffin halves before toasting. Estimated nutrition per sandwich: 460 kcal, 28g fat, 29g carbs, 22g protein.
