Ingredients

For the Chicken Filling

  • 2 cups cooked chicken (shredded or diced)
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • ½ cup milk or cream
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon thyme
  • ½ teaspoon parsley
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika (optional for flavor)

For the Pastry

  • 1 sheet puff pastry or refrigerated pie crust
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Chicken Filling

  1. Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat (6/10 intensity) .
  2. Add chopped onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until soft.
  3. Add garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 2: Add Vegetables

  1. Stir in frozen mixed vegetables and cook for 2–3 minutes until slightly tender.
  2. This adds color, texture, and sweetness to the filling.

Step 3: Make Creamy Sauce

  1. Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir well to coat everything evenly.
  2. Cook for 1 minute to remove raw flour taste.
  3. Slowly add chicken broth while stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
  4. Add milk or cream and stir until the sauce thickens (about 3–5 minutes).

Step 4: Add Chicken and Seasoning

  1. Add cooked chicken into the creamy mixture.

  1. Lightly grease muffin tins or silicone molds.
  2. Place pastry circles inside each cup, pressing gently to form a shell.
  3. Fill each with chicken mixture, leaving space at the top.
  4. Cover with another pastry circle or lattice strips.
  5. Brush the top with beaten egg for a golden finish.

Step 7: Preheat Air Fryer

  1. Preheat air fryer to 360°F (180°C) for 3–5 minutes.
  2. This ensures even cooking and crispy pastry.

  1. Place filled muffin tray or molds into the air fryer basket.
